I love good food - who doesn't? I love trying new things, both in the kitchen and at restaurants. I also adore farmers markets and support the slow/local food movement. Why a Wannabe? Although I would love to, I have not yet taken a cooking class or had any formal education in Food sciences. That being said, I know a good and/or bad dish when I see/taste it - and I plan to blog about it here! Fitness, my love of festivals, travel and Northeast Ohio are also passions of mine that will make periodic appearances on this blog. I hope you enjoy. ~ MaryLee

I would be remiss if I didn’t write about the food at the Hodge Podge Truck!

The menu at the Watch Party for the Season 2 Finale of The Great Food Truck Race included Fish & Perogies, Smoked Guda Burger, Fig Burger, Crabby Fatty, Mac & Cheese, Veagan Potstickers, and of course - Sweet Potato Tots!

I totally suggest visiting Food Trucks with friends, that way you can just share and get to try several dishes…because let’s face it…with choices like these it’s nearly impossible to decide what to order!

We had the Fish Perogies with Beer Battered Fish, Mango Slaw and Perogies with Carrot Puree. As you can see above, this looked just incredible and the taste definitely matched it’s good looks!

Also had the Veagan Potstickers! Don’t let the lack of meat fool you! I’m not Vegan, however, this is one of my favorite dishes and I’ve had the Vegan Dumplings from Chris Hodgson’s other truck, Dim and Dem Sum, and they hold true as a favorite of mine. The spice on the Potsticker version added just the perfect amount of “pop” to the dish. Love.

And of course the Sweet Potato Tots were FLOWING at the watch party! The addition of Strachi Honey was also perfect….and NOT too much sauce! ;)

Don’t miss the Hodge Podge Truck if it hits the Streetz of your neighborhood or near where you work. You may find their schedule on their web site - HodgePodgeTruck.com, Twitter - @HodgePodgeTruck, or Facebook.

The Umami Moto food truck made an appearance at the Kamm’s Corners Farmers Market and I was lucky enough to partake in these AMAZING scallops! The scallops were huge (this photo does not do them justice!) and were combined with a nice fruit salad. The perfect combination on a hot summer day. Keep an eye out and don’t miss Umami Moto if they are in your neighborhood!
