I love good food - who doesn't? I love trying new things, both in the kitchen and at restaurants. I also adore farmers markets and support the slow/local food movement. Why a Wannabe? Although I would love to, I have not yet taken a cooking class or had any formal education in Food sciences. That being said, I know a good and/or bad dish when I see/taste it - and I plan to blog about it here! Fitness, my love of festivals, travel and Northeast Ohio are also passions of mine that will make periodic appearances on this blog. I hope you enjoy. ~ MaryLee

Sometimes simple is just simply best! My hometown in Illinois, Fairbury, has an amazing gem in the Lost In Time Cafe. There are always plenty of healthy options to go along with the decadent, and the food is fresh and simple. When I visit, I often will start the day out with the Lost In Time Breakfast. Basically, just two eggs, choice of meat (what’s better than bacon???), toast and normally it comes with home fries, but they were kind enough on the morning I was there to substitute a fresh fruit bowl! Now the Berry salad was a special. Super fresh with blackened grilled chicken, blueberries, strawberries, snap peas, red onions and a home made berry vinaigrette. The dressing totally made it! I love the combination of the sweet berries and the other veggies. Then there is Harv’s Ice Cream. I could wax poetic about this ice cream! They make it right there at the cafe and it’s Harv Schieler’s recipe and is quite legendary around my hometown. Definitely nothing like a scoop of Harv’s Ice Cream on a hot summer’s day! If you are any where near Central Illinois, look this place up!
